Sikorsky launches container-based deployment system for Nomad 100 drones
Sikorsky has introduced a shipping-container system that lets four Nomad 100 VTOL drones operate away from conventional airfields, aimed at naval and forward military use.

Sikorsky introduced a containerized deployment system on Monday built around four Nomad 100 vertical takeoff and landing drones, letting them operate from sites without standard airport facilities.
Called the Nomad 100 Fast Pack, the system packs the aircraft and the equipment needed to run them into one 20-foot shipping container. According to the company, that equipment covers mission-control software, communications gear, power supply and spares for maintenance.
Sikorsky said the planned setup would let operators ready two of the aircraft for a mission in under 15 minutes, with the other two available within four to six hours.
The Fast Pack is meant for naval vessels, military staging areas and improvised landing zones. The container can be repacked after a mission and moved elsewhere. Depending on how it is configured, the company said, the aircraft could carry out surveillance, reconnaissance, light attack and logistics work.
Rich Benton, a Sikorsky vice president and general manager, said in a July statement that the Nomad would operate as part of a crewed-uncrewed team, supporting missions from austere forward bases to ship decks and unimproved landing zones.
The Nomad 100 has an 18-foot wingspan and uses twin prop-rotors for vertical flight before transitioning to wing-borne cruise. It carries Sikorsky's MATRIX autonomous flight technology. The company said it finished initial ground and flight testing earlier this year under a program backed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
The deployment system expands the wider Nomad family, which Sikorsky presented in October 2025 as a line of runway-independent uncrewed aircraft for military and civilian use.
