Sun Express slows fleet growth plan, trims 2033 target
The German-Turkish leisure carrier is scaling back its expansion, dropping a previous goal of growing its fleet from 86 to 150 aircraft by 2033 and planning annual growth of four to five percent instead.

Sun Express is slowing its growth. The German-Turkish leisure carrier is dropping its earlier goal of expanding its fleet from 86 to 150 aircraft by 2033, according to chief executive Marcus Schnabel, who has held the post since February, speaking to the magazine FVW.
Fleet and seat capacity will now grow by four to five percent a year on average.
For 2027, Sun Express plans capacity in Germany, Switzerland and Austria at 2026 levels. More than 60 new aircraft are still due to join the fleet in the coming years, eleven of them during 2027. The first Boeing 737 Max 10 is expected in the first half of 2028.
Schnabel blamed the economic situation in the airline's core markets for the more cautious growth path.
