Swiss to build larger lounges at Zurich Airport's Dock B, closing Alpine Lounge

Swiss will move its Business and Senator lounges at Zurich Airport from Dock A to a newly built facility on the south side of Dock B, the airline has said. The relocation is tied to construction of a new Dock A terminal, which is not expected to open until 2033.

The two lounges will each occupy a full floor of the new building, according to Swiss, together offering around 2,600 square metres of space. That is about 20 percent more than the airline currently provides at Dock A. The move is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

The new Senator Lounge will include a bar along the window front, with views over runway 34, the apron and the surrounding mountains, the airline said. Both lounges will have roughly 20 soundproofed workspaces. The Senator Lounge will also include a maturation room for cheese and cured meats, along with a wine cabinet, according to Swiss.

A First and Hon Circle lounge, also currently in Dock A, will follow the same path to Dock B, though not until 2028.

The changes bring a trade-off for some travelers. Swiss confirmed that its smaller Alpine Lounge, a roughly 500-square-metre space long popular among frequent flyers as a quieter alternative, will close once the new Dock B lounges open. That space had been available to First and Business class passengers looking for a secluded spot away from the airport's busier lounges.

The wider construction project at Zurich Airport includes preparatory work that began in April on a new general aviation terminal, along with continuing apron work near the future Dock A. That terminal is planned to have a wood-and-glass design and a new control tower.
