Zurich Airport charity water sales raise 164,000 francs for Swiss food bank
A charity bottled-water scheme at Zurich Airport generated over 164,000 Swiss francs for the Schweizer Tafel food bank between January and May 2026, according to the airport operator.
Sales of a charity-branded mineral water at Zurich Airport's duty-free shops raised 164,024 Swiss francs, roughly 176,000 euros, between January and May 2026, benefiting the Swiss food bank organization Schweizer Tafel.
The water is sold by Avolta-operated duty-free stores at the airport for 2.50 francs a bottle, of which 50 centimes goes to a charitable cause. Schweizer Tafel was the twelfth organization to receive support under the scheme, which has run since 2014 as a joint initiative between Zurich Airport and Avolta.
According to the announcement, proceeds have since June been redirected to Werkstätte Drahtzug, a Zurich association that helps people with psychological impairments with professional and social integration.
No further financial or operational details were provided about the program's future plans.
