TAP Air Portugal names José Eduardo Moreira as new COO

TAP Air Portugal has appointed José Eduardo Moreira as Chief Operating Officer, succeeding Mário Chaves, who stepped down from the role.

TAP Air Portugal has named José Eduardo Moreira as its new Chief Operating Officer, the airline said. He takes over from Mário Chaves, who has resigned the position.

Moreira has worked at TAP since 1998. Most recently he served as the airline's general director for maintenance and technical operations. Earlier in his career he held roles in engine maintenance as well as engineering and airworthiness.

Chaves had sat on TAP's executive board since 2023 and had been responsible for the carrier's operational division as Chief Operating Officer during that time. No reason for his departure was given.

The airline did not disclose a start date for Moreira in the new role, nor did it comment on whether further management changes are planned.
