Tarom takes delivery of its first Boeing 737 Max
Romania's flag-carrier has received a leased 737 Max 8, the first of the type to enter the country, as part of a fleet-modernisation effort tied to its restructuring plan.

Tarom has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 Max, the first of the type to enter service in Romania. The aircraft, a Max 8 registered YR-BGO, came from CDB Aviation and landed in Bucharest on 8 September after a delivery flight from Seattle routed through Reykjavik. It has since flown familiarisation services out of the Romanian capital.
Tarom chief Cristian Anghel linked the arrival to the airline's restructuring plan, calling fleet renewal and efficient operational capacity essential components of it and saying the aircraft's technology and low environmental footprint fit the carrier's vision for sustainable operations.
According to the airline, CDB Aviation, the Irish subsidiary of China Development Bank Financial Leasing, is leasing two single-aisle aircraft to Tarom. The lessor said the handover reflects its commitment to providing Tarom with efficient, state-of-the-art aircraft.
Tarom's existing fleet includes four older 737 airframes and ATR turboprops. The carrier has previously flown the Airbus A318, a type with relatively few operators.
