Ten Years After Emirates Flight 521, Passengers Still Risk Lives for Bags
A decade after the Emirates Flight 521 evacuation in Dubai, passengers continue to grab luggage during emergency evacuations despite crew instructions.

Ten years after the evacuation of Emirates Flight 521 at Dubai International Airport, passengers still reach for their belongings during emergencies. On the day of the incident, cabin crew told passengers not to take luggage, but many did. Overhead bins opened and bags appeared in the aisles. Some passengers arrived at usable exits carrying luggage.
All 282 passengers and 18 crew evacuated the Boeing 777-300 before fire destroyed the aircraft. The evacuation took nearly seven minutes. The same risky behaviour continues today.
