Thai Airways to add premium economy from mid-2027

Thai Airways will add a premium economy cabin from the middle of 2027, the airline said. The new class will debut as part of a wider cabin refurbishment of all 14 of its Boeing 777s, which will also get new first and business class suites.

Premium economy is to be offered on 15 newly delivered Boeing 787-10s from the start of 2028. The Airbus A350 fleet would follow under a retrofit programme planned for 2028 and 2029.

Thai Airways has now given the first details of the seat. It will be arranged in a 2-3-2 layout, and a rendering of the Boeing 787-9 shows 28 seats in four rows. The airline has not yet said how large the cabins will be on each aircraft type.

The seat has padded headrests with side wings for more privacy and easier head rest. An LED reading light is built into one wing and moves with the seat when it reclines. Each seat also has a 16-inch screen with 4K resolution, Bluetooth for passengers' own headphones, and high-output USB ports for charging devices.
