TSA May Allow Water Bottles for Some PreCheck Travelers at Select Airports

The Transportation Security Administration is considering a pilot that would let certain PreCheck members keep full water bottles through security, while the 3-1-1 liquids rule otherwise remains in effect.

The Transportation Security Administration is looking at whether to let some PreCheck passengers keep full water bottles at select airport checkpoints. Most travelers would still face the standard limit on liquids.

Anyone passing through a US airport checkpoint now must drink, discard, or hand over bottles of water before reaching the X-ray. At a handful of locations, that routine could change for a subset of PreCheck members.
