Two ex-Lufthansa Boeing 737-500s up for auction in Romania
Two Boeing 737-500 jets formerly operated by Lufthansa and later Blue Air are being auctioned on a Romanian platform, with a starting price of €238,000 each.

Two Boeing 737-500s are listed for sale on the Romanian auction platform Azitis. The aircraft first flew in 1991, seat 120 passengers, and were operated by Lufthansa before moving to Romanian carrier Blue Air. Both have been parked since 2022 without maintenance or engine preservation, and their airworthiness certificates have expired.
Bidding requires a deposit of 250,000 lei (about €48,000). The auctioneer recommends viewing the aircraft, either through photo galleries or in person. One plane is in Bacău, Romania, and the other in Forlì, Italy. Parking fees for the Italian aircraft had reached about €50,000 as of February 1.
Blue Air ceased operations in September 2022. The starting price for each aircraft is €238,000. The auctions end on September 8 at 5 p.m.
