UK court filing seeks administration for Global Airlines

Global Airlines, the long-haul start-up built around the Airbus A380, faces a fresh insolvency procedure in London. An application for an administration order against Global Airlines Ltd was entered at the High Court on 22 September under case number CR-2026-007326, according to entries on the Caseboard platform. It is a separate action from earlier proceedings.

The company was founded in July 2019 as a virtual airline without its own air operator's certificate. Four years later chief executive James Asquith announced plans for a premium long-haul carrier operating four Airbus A380s. The first superjumbo was bought in May 2023. No further aircraft followed.

Its only flights to date were four round trips in May 2025 between Glasgow and Manchester and New York, operated by Hi Fly Malta. The A380 registered 9H-GLOBL has been parked at Tarbes in southern France since 16 July 2025, officially awaiting a D-check. Asked why the check had still not begun more than a year later, Asquith cited a lack of maintenance capacity for the aircraft type.

Creditors had already filed several liquidation petitions in 2025, some of which were withdrawn. The most recent petition reached the High Court in May 2026, and hearings were scheduled for 15 July and 2 September. Neither the outcome of those hearings nor the size of the claim is clear.
