United Airlines has finished replacing its Guam-based narrowbody fleet, moving to 10 Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft in place of the older 737-800s it had operated there. The switch was completed ahead of the airline's original target of the end of the year.
Installations of Starlink satellite wi-fi are already done on two of the 10 aircraft as of 13 October, and all of them will be fitted with the connectivity system along with new interiors. David Kinzelman, United's chief customer officer, said the connectivity is a significant change for passengers and that the Guam-based aircraft are among the first of the carrier's Max 8s to receive it.
United's first 737 Max 8 arrived in the South Pacific in March 2026 to start the replacement work, which also covers upgrades to the airport's check-in lobby.
The Guam narrowbody operation flies to 15 destinations, among them the airline's island hopper service and routes to Japan and Hawaii. United has not said where the retired 737-800s will be sent.
