Uzbekistan receives first C-390 transport from Embraer
Embraer handed over Uzbekistan's first C-390 Millennium military transport at its Brazilian facility on 25 September, making the country the type's first operator in Central Asia.
Embraer handed Uzbekistan's air force its first C-390 Millennium on 25 September, at the manufacturer's site in Gavião Peixoto, Brazil. Uzbekistan becomes the first Central Asian nation to take delivery of the military transport.
The deal was signed late last year and also includes training, support and spare parts. Embraer has not said how many aircraft were ordered, nor when the first one will reach Uzbekistan.
The C-390 is built for cargo and troop carriage, medical evacuation, search and rescue, and humanitarian missions. Embraer puts its maximum payload at 26 tonnes and its cruising speed at 470 knots. The aircraft can also be fitted for air-to-air refuelling.
Uzbekistan intends to use the type to renew its military airlift fleet. The handover in Brazil is the first delivery under the agreement, and the air force has not yet said when the aircraft will begin operational service.
