Vertical Aerospace opens electric aircraft assembly site at UK airport
Vertical Aerospace has opened an assembly centre at Cotswold Airport in the UK for its Valo electric aircraft, backed by £1.5 million in support. Certification-targeted assembly is due to begin in late 2027.
Vertical Aerospace has opened an assembly centre for its Valo electric aircraft at Cotswold Airport in the United Kingdom. The 60,000-square-foot facility got £1.5 million (about 1.7 million euros) in support.
The site will first build conforming aircraft and a hybrid-electric demonstrator. Work on the first Valo intended for certification is due to begin in the fourth quarter of 2027.
Vertical is seeking type certification from the UK Civil Aviation Authority for 2029. The plant would then produce initial customer aircraft, with capacity for more than 25 Valo aircraft a year.
For higher volumes, the company plans a separate production facility. Its location is to be announced in 2026.
