WFS wins conditional cargo handling licence at Oslo Airport

Avinor, the operator of Oslo Gardermoen Airport, has conditionally granted a cargo handling licence to Worldwide Flight Services, a SATS company. It is WFS's first entry into the Norwegian market.

Once finalised, the licence will make WFS the third cargo handler operating at the airport. Avinor said the addition of another provider was meant to boost capacity and increase competition for airlines, freight forwarders and other cargo owners using the airport.

No timing was given for when the licence would be confirmed or when WFS would begin operations at Oslo. The identities of the other two cargo handlers already at the airport were not disclosed, and no details were provided on the commercial terms of the arrangement.

The move fits into a wider pattern of ground handling groups expanding across European airports as demand for air cargo capacity grows. WFS runs cargo handling services at numerous airports worldwide as part of SATS's global network.
