Wingo sells out third 'Destino Oculto' blind-travel package in 19 minutes

Wingo sold all seats for the third edition of its surprise-destination product in 19 minutes, with more than 300 travellers set to depart from Bogotá and Medellín on 22 October.

Wingo said it sold out the third edition of its "Destino Oculto" surprise-destination product in 19 minutes, a record for the offering, the Colombian low-cost carrier said.

Sales opened at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday 15 September and all places were gone within 19 minutes. According to the airline, more than 300 passengers will depart from Bogotá and Medellín on 22 October toward an undisclosed location.

The trip runs four days and three nights on an all-inclusive basis. This edition folds two destinations into a single journey. Wingo developed the surprise itinerary with the brands Corona and O Boticário.

Jorge Jiménez, Wingo's vice president of commercial and planning, said the product has become one of the most anticipated by the carrier's travellers. The pace of sales reflects the interest the format draws, he said, and the airline intends to keep bringing such experiences to the market.

Wingo framed the result as evidence of consumer appetite for travel sold without a disclosed destination.
