Wizz Air has announced plans to open its tenth base in Romania, this time at Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport. The low-cost carrier said it will station one Airbus A321neo at the airport to support the new base, with operations beginning in December 2026.

According to the airline, the aircraft will enable four new routes from Brașov: to Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden in Germany, Chișinău in Moldova, and Barcelona and Madrid in Spain. Wizz Air has served Brașov since 2023, the year the airport opened, and remains the only major carrier operating there. The airline said it accounted for the large majority of the roughly 330,000 passengers who used the airport in 2025.

As of August 2026, Wizz Air operates a year-round schedule from Brașov to several other European cities, including Budapest, Dortmund, Katowice, London-Luton, Memmingen, Nuremberg, Milan-Malpensa, Naples, Rome-Fiumicino and Warsaw. A route to Nuremberg that launched in October 2025 and had been expected to be suspended will instead continue through the 2026/27 winter season. A separate new route to Valencia, announced in July 2026 alongside a new Wizz Air base in that Spanish city, is due to start in November 2026.

The Brașov announcement follows a series of new base openings by Wizz Air across Europe this summer, with further bases planned for Palermo, Pristina, Santiago de Compostela and Madrid-Barajas from the 2026/27 winter season.
