Accident Details
A student pilot, on his third supervised solo flight, was practicing takeoffs and landings. The wind was from the left at 10 knots, quartering. After landing, the student began his takeoff roll. During the roll, the aircraft veered off the runway, traveled approximately 600 feet, and struck a dirt ramp.
Damage Assessment
The impact with the dirt ramp caused the nose gear and propeller to bend backward. The aircraft then bounced, resulting in damage to the right wing.
Student's Account
The student pilot stated that he had hit a rabbit, which caused the deviation from the runway.
Investigation Findings
An inspection of the runway revealed no evidence of a dead rabbit or any other signs consistent with striking a rabbit.
