Incident Description
The event occurred during a student pilot's fourth landing of the day. As she approached the runway, she determined that her position was too far down the runway and her altitude too high to achieve a satisfactory landing. She then decided to execute a go-around and applied flaps and power accordingly. However, contrary to her intention, the aircraft made contact with the runway surface. Immediately after touching down, the pilot lost directional control of the airplane, causing it to deviate from the runway. The aircraft then crossed a parallel taxiway. As the airplane continued beyond the taxiway, the pilot spotted trees (brush) on the far side. She attempted to pull up to avoid them, but there was not enough room. The aircraft subsequently entered the trees.
Pilot's Account
In her account, the student pilot stated that she did not fully understand all procedures involved in the go-around maneuver. She specifically noted that her action of adding flaps and power was intended to initiate a go-around, but the aircraft landed instead, indicating a possible misunderstanding of the steps required.
