What happened
During a training session focused on stall recovery techniques, the pilot experienced a sudden mechanical failure involving the aircraft's primary flight controls. The right control yoke became stuck in the full forward position, preventing normal pitch control inputs. To regain authority over the aircraft's attitude, the pilot executed an unconventional maneuver by placing both feet against the instrument panel to generate leverage, allowing them to pull the yoke rearward and complete the recovery.
The investigation
Following the incident, a thorough examination of the flight control system was conducted to determine the root cause of the jam. Technical analysis revealed that the right-hand nylon bearing located on the right control column had dislodged from its intended track. The bearing slipped out of its guide and became lodged against the exterior of the guide assembly, physically obstructing the yoke's movement.
