Incident Summary
A pilot reported that during a descent from 900 ft AGL to 200 ft AGL, the engine was set to idle power. The pilot intended to make a low pass over a field to view real estate. When the throttle was advanced, the engine sputtered and failed to accelerate.
Sequence of Events
Following the engine's failure to accelerate, the pilot executed a forced landing. During the landing roll, heavy braking was applied, and the aircraft nosed over. The pilot stated that he did not recall using carburetor heat during the descent and low pass while operating at idle power.
Post-Accident Findings
After the accident, the engine was tested on the ground and ran successfully at both low and high power settings. No other anomalies were reported. The pilot's lack of carburetor heat usage during the idle descent and low pass was noted but not identified as a cause.
