Incident

During a low pass over water, the aircraft struck the surface. A witness reported the pass was 10–30 feet above ground level, one of a series of passes characterized by "wings wobbling." On the pass that resulted in impact, the landing gear and wing were damaged. Following the collision, the pilot and aircraft departed the area.

Landing and Aftermath

The aircraft returned to the departure airport. While landing, the nose gear and right main gear collapsed. Prior to touchdown, the gear strut was observed protruding through the top of the right wing, providing the pilot a visual indication of the undercarriage damage. After the gear fully collapsed on the runway, the aircraft skidded off the side, further damaging the right wing, right gear, right flap, propeller, nose gear, and cowling.
