Accident Details
A pilot was practicing maneuvers when, after adding power following one maneuver, the engine did not develop full RPM. The pilot executed emergency procedures but could not recover engine power and elected to land. The chosen landing field was soft and wet. Upon landing, the wheels dug into the ground, causing the aircraft to nose over.
Passenger Account
A passenger on board reported that the pilot told him the landing was being performed to "check the engine" because the engine was not "running as fast."
Post-Accident Inspection
After the accident, the aircraft owner inspected the engine and found that it ran normally.

Weather conditions at the time were conducive to carburetor icing.
