Accident Overview
During a landing attempt, a pilot experienced a loss of control before touchdown. The left wing dipped approximately four feet, causing the left landing gear to contact the ground alongside the runway. The pilot initially initiated a go-around but aborted the maneuver upon sighting a group of trees at the end of the runway. Unable to regain control, the aircraft touched down on the runway and skidded into a brush area, where it caught fire and was destroyed.
Sequence of Events
The pilot was approaching the runway when the left wing dropped significantly. This resulted in the left gear touching down off the runway surface. In response, the pilot began to execute a go-around procedure. However, after noticing trees at the runway's end, the pilot decided against continuing the go-around and attempted to salvage the landing. Control was not regained, and the aircraft landed hard on the runway, skidding off into adjacent brush. The subsequent fire consumed the aircraft.
Damage
The aircraft was destroyed by the impact and ensuing fire.
