Incident Overview
A student pilot was practicing touch-and-go landings when the airplane experienced a ballooning effect during the flare. According to the pilot's report, the flare was excessive, causing the airplane to rise again after the initial touchdown. Upon settling back onto the runway, the airplane began to drift toward the left side.
Pilot Actions
The student pilot described attempting to correct the direction by applying right rudder and applying brakes to bring the airplane to a stop. Despite these efforts, the airplane continued to the left and departed the runway surface.
Outcome
The airplane ran off the left side of the runway into soft dirt, where it nosed over and came to rest inverted. The report did not mention any injuries or the extent of damage to the aircraft.
Findings
No probable cause was assigned in the pilot's report. The sequence of events indicates a loss of directional control following the ballooning caused by the excessive flare.
