Incident Sequence
A student pilot was practicing takeoffs and landings in the traffic pattern. During the first approach, the pilot relaxed pressure on the left rudder pedal, causing the aircraft to yaw. In response, the pilot pulled aft on the yoke to prevent a sideways touchdown, resulting in the aircraft ballooning. The pilot then applied power to execute a go-around. However, the stall warning sounded, and the aircraft settled, touched down hard, and was damaged.
Pilot Report
The student pilot reported that the sequence of events began when he relaxed pressure on the left rudder pedal during the approach, leading to a yaw. His subsequent input on the yoke caused the aircraft to balloon. The go-around attempt was initiated by applying power, but the aircraft did not climb as expected; instead, the stall warning activated and the aircraft settled onto the runway with a hard impact, resulting in damage.
