Incident Details
Following landing, the pilot in command (PIC) was cleared by air traffic control to taxi to the general aviation (G/A) ramp. The pilot was not aware that a new G/A ramp had been constructed and proceeded toward the location of the old ramp. While taxiing, the pilot observed a large aircraft approaching from the opposite direction on the same taxiway. To avoid the oncoming traffic, the pilot modified his route by selecting an alternate path. Mistakenly, the pilot chose a vehicular road instead of a taxiway. After entering the road, the pilot realized the error and continued toward the next intersection. However, after traveling a short distance, the aircraft's right wing struck a steel sign. The pilot reported that he had not seen the sign prior to the impact.
