An aircraft experienced engine power loss after being serviced with Jet-A fuel, leading to a crash during an emergency landing at Manchester.

Flight History

The flight to Burlington, Vermont was uneventful. While on the ground at Burlington, the aircraft was serviced, and the flight continued. After about one hour of flight, the pilot experienced high engine temperature and low oil pressure, and the aircraft landed at Manchester.

Engine Failure and Emergency

After maintenance, the pilot was told the aircraft was ready for a test flight. A ground check was satisfactory, but during climbout the engine lost power. The pilot was on downwind for Runway 06 when he called for an immediate landing due to rough running engine. The tower cleared him to land on Runway 06. The pilot turned left halfway down Runway 06 for downwind to Runway 35, and was then cleared for Runway 35.

Crash

While turning from base to final, the aircraft overshot the windline, steepened the turn, stalled, and crashed.

Post-Crash Examination

A post-crash examination revealed evidence that the aircraft had been serviced with Jet-A fuel.
