A pilot reported that during a landing approach over power lines, the stall warning horn activated. After increasing power and then reducing it, the airplane dropped and nosed over upon ground contact, resulting in nose gear failure.

Accident Details

According to the pilot, the landing approach for runway 22 was conducted over power lines. During the approach, the stall warning horn activated. In response, the pilot increased power to maintain 60 mph with 20 degrees of flaps. Once the pilot estimated that the intended touchdown point could be reached, power was reduced. At that point, the airplane 'dropped.' It contacted the terrain in a flat attitude, whereupon the nose gear failed and the airplane nosed over. The aircraft came to rest approximately 60 feet beyond the threshold.

Pilot and Passenger Statements

The pilot provided the account of the approach and subsequent events. The passenger stated that the stall warning activated as the airplane descended to terrain impact.
