Approach and Descent
The student pilot, accompanied by a certified flight instructor (CFI), was conducting a normal approach at an indicated airspeed of 60 knots with 30 degrees of flaps deployed. When the aircraft reached an altitude of approximately 100 to 200 feet above ground level, it began to descend below the desired glidepath.
Pilot Actions
In response to the deviation, the student pilot added engine power and increased the pitch attitude. Despite these inputs, the aircraft continued to descend, and the airspeed decreased to 40 knots.
Stall and Terrain Contact
The CFI reported that he took control of the aircraft after it began to stall. He lowered the nose in an attempt to increase airspeed; however, the descent continued. The aircraft subsequently contacted the terrain in a nose-low, left-wing-low attitude.
Mechanical Status
Neither pilot reported any mechanical failure or malfunction of the aircraft during the event.
