What happened
A solo student pilot was conducting a training flight when he reported that his aircraft touched down slightly fast on the runway. Following the initial contact, the airplane lifted off again, prompting the pilot to attempt to return the aircraft to the ground. Upon recontacting the runway, persistent propeller oscillations began and continued through subsequent attempts.
The pilot made multiple efforts to settle the aircraft onto the pavement. During the fourth touchdown sequence, the nose gear struck the ground with sufficient force to collapse. The pilot remained in control of the situation but sustained damage to the landing gear assembly due to the repeated bouncing and overcontrol inputs during the oscillation phase.
The investigation
Post-acc examination revealed that the nose landing gear had collapsed as a result of the vertical loads generated during the fourth touchdown. The propeller oscillations were consistent with the pilot's description of improper control inputs during the flare and touchdown phases. No mechanical failures were identified in the airframe or propulsion system prior to the impact.

The primary factor contributing to the accident was the pilot's decision-making and control technique during the landing maneuver. The pilot later acknowledged that the incident might have been prevented by avoiding overcontrol inputs or by aborting the landing attempt earlier. The persistent oscillations were a direct result of these control errors rather than any aircraft malfunction.
