Accident Details
A pilot with 70 hours of flight experience initiated a takeoff from a 4900-foot runway in an uphill direction. During the climb, the airplane impacted trees located on rising terrain beyond the end of the runway. Following the collision with trees, the airplane descended out of control and subsequently struck the ground.
Pilot Account
The pilot reported that the airplane failed to accelerate or climb at a rate sufficient to clear the trees. The pilot's statement indicated that the aircraft's performance was inadequate to avoid the obstacles.
