Accident Details
A student pilot with 17 total flight hours was conducting his second supervised solo flight, performing takeoffs and landings. During the accident landing, the pilot reported that the aircraft began veering off the runway after touchdown, and he was unable to correct the situation. The aircraft subsequently ground looped and came to rest in a plowed field adjacent to the runway.
Examination
Following the accident, during retrieval of the aircraft, a certified airframe and powerplant mechanic examined the control, braking, and steering systems. The examination determined that all systems were fully functional.
