Incident Overview
After landing, the airplane was taxiing to the gate when the flight crew observed a vehicle approaching from ahead on the taxiway. The crew stopped the airplane. The vehicle struck the airplane, passing through the right engine propeller arc, between the fuselage and the right engine.
Entry Method
The driver gained access to the taxiway by driving through a locked gate and breaking the fence. This unauthorized entry allowed the vehicle to reach the taxiway where the airplane was taxiing.
Driver's Statement
When interviewed after the incident, the vehicle driver stated that he had been drinking and wanted to kill himself. The driver's account indicated alcohol consumption and suicidal intent.
