Incident
An airplane was positioned on a lake for takeoff when the wind direction changed. The pilot subsequently repositioned the airplane to the opposite end of the lake. According to the pilot, the wind was changing fairly erratically during this time.
Shortly after becoming airborne and while still over the lake, the airplane stopped climbing and subsequently collided with the shoreline.
Pilot Statements
Both the pilot and the passenger stated that they believed the airplane stopped climbing because the wind either changed direction or stopped blowing at that moment.
Investigation Notes
The investigation is based on the accounts provided by the pilot and passenger. No other contributing factors have been identified in the preliminary report.
