Incident Overview
During cruise flight en route from Newark, New Jersey, to San Francisco, California, the first officer of a commercial aircraft experienced a grand mal seizure, rendering him incapable of continuing his duties. A fellow company pilot who was traveling as a passenger responded to the situation and came to the flight deck to assume the first officer's responsibilities.
Flight Diversion and Landing
