Incident Overview
During the landing procedure, the airplane unexpectedly became airborne again after initial touchdown. It subsequently bounced several times before finally impacting the runway in a nose-down attitude. The sequence of events occurred as the aircraft was attempting to land.
Pilot Report
The pilot reported that there were no airframe or engine anomalies before the landing. According to the pilot, the aircraft systems were functioning normally up to the point of the landing attempt. No mechanical issues were identified.
Weather Observations
The pilot reported that the winds were from 260 degrees at 2 to 3 knots, but were gusting 5 to 8 knots. Additionally, about 20 miles north at Springfield, Massachusetts, the wind was recorded as being from 010 degrees at 10 knots. The wind conditions at the landing site differed significantly from those observed at Springfield.
