What happened
The student pilot was conducting local flight training, initially reviewing airwork in the vicinity of the airport. After completing this phase, he returned to the airport to practice takeoffs and landings. During the session, the pilot executed four separate landing attempts.
On the fourth attempt, the pilot initiated a touch-and-go maneuver. Approximately three-quarters of the way down the runway, he reported losing control of the aircraft. The airplane veered sharply to the left, departing the paved surface. The aircraft came to rest nose-down in a ditch adjacent to the runway.
