Incident Details
A pilot reported a loss of engine power following an aborted visual flight rules (VFR) landing approach at Marion. The airplane subsequently executed a forced landing in a field, during which it nosed over. No information was provided regarding the aircraft type, registration, operator, or any occupants.
Post-Accident Examination
Examination of the airplane revealed the presence of fuel in the fuel line. However, when the fuel tanks were drained, only one gallon total was recovered. The airplane's operating handbook lists the unusable fuel quantity as 1.5 gallons. No post-accident mechanical anomalies were discovered with the engine or the fuel system. The investigation did not determine a probable cause for the loss of power.
