What happened
During pre-flight taxi operations for an upcoming departure, the student pilot operating the aircraft reported that the braking system had failed. In response to this report, the flight instructor assumed control of the airplane in an effort to manage the situation. Despite these efforts, the aircraft continued to skid forward, eventually leaving the designated runup pad area.
