Incident Overview
A pilot reported that after conducting several touch-and-go landings on runway 34, the active runway was changed to runway 16. The aircraft subsequently landed on runway 16 following what was described as a normal approach.
Loss of Directional Control
During the landing ground roll, the pilot observed that the aircraft was 'pulling to the right.' In response, the pilot applied left rudder to correct the deviation. This corrective action had no effect on the directional control. As a final effort, the pilot applied full left rudder, but the aircraft continued to veer off the right side of the runway.
Runway Excursion and Damage
The aircraft departed the right side of the runway and proceeded down an embankment, where it impacted brush and terrain. This impact caused substantial structural damage to both the airframe and the landing gear.
Postaccident Inspection
The operator conducted a postaccident inspection of the aircraft and was unable to identify any mechanical discrepancies that might have contributed to the loss of directional control.
