Incident Overview
A flight originating from Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands, destined for San Juan, Puerto Rico, encountered a series of mechanical issues culminating in an engine failure and forced landing.
Sequence of Events
According to the pilot, at 1330 hours, approximately one hour after departure, the engine experienced a partial power loss. The pilot adjusted the mixture to rich and operated for about 20 minutes until power was restored. About two and a half hours into the flight, the VOR navigation instrument went offline, causing navigational difficulties.
At 1640 hours, while approximately six miles from Aguadilla Airport, the engine stopped completely due to fuel exhaustion. The pilot initiated a forced landing, during which the aircraft impacted trees.
