Incident
After completing practice commercial pilot maneuvers, a private pilot and a student pilot passenger were conducting a personal sightseeing flight over Lake Juliette in Juliette, Georgia. During the flight, the aircraft collided with the water. According to the pilot, the aircraft lost power while flying over the lake at a low altitude.
Witness Account
A witness reported observing the aircraft flying very low and going in and out of coves. The witness stated that the right wing struck the water first, after which the aircraft nosed over into the water.
Outcome
Both the pilot and the passenger escaped without injuries. An examination of the engine found no evidence of mechanical failure.
