Accident Overview
A Piper PA-28R-201 airplane stalled and impacted terrain following an attempted go-around. The pilot reported that during landing approach with flaps in the full down position, the airplane yawed slightly to the right, prompting the decision to abort the landing and initiate a go-around.
Sequence of Events
According to the pilot's account, after the yaw was detected, he began a go-around. During this maneuver, the pilot raised the flaps abruptly from the full down position to the full up position. The airplane subsequently stalled and collided with the terrain.
Wreckage Examination
An inspection of the wreckage revealed no evidence of preimpact airframe or engine malfunction. The aircraft was mechanically sound prior to the event.
