Incident Details
The pilot reported that approximately 200 yards into the landing roll following touchdown, the aircraft unexpectedly veered sharply to the left. In an attempt to correct the deviation, the pilot applied right rudder and increased power to the left engine. Despite these actions, the aircraft departed the paved surface and came to rest on the grass. The right main landing gear separated from the aircraft, while both the nose and left main landing gears collapsed.
Investigation Findings
Postaccident examination of the brakes, tires, and nose landing gear centering mechanism revealed no evidence of preimpact failure or malfunction. However, marks on the runway indicated that the aircraft touched down with its longitudinal axis not aligned with the runway centerline.
