Flight Details
The cross country instructional flight departed Venice, Florida, with the intention of conducting a touch-and-go landing at Florida Southwest International Airport in Fort Myers before proceeding to Tallahassee for refueling and the return leg. The flight proceeded as planned until, while approximately 10 miles southeast of Tallahassee, the engine stopped.
Accident Sequence
Following the engine stoppage, the pilot executed a forced landing. During the landing, the aircraft collided with trees.
Post-Accident Examination
An FAA inspector examined the crash site and found 1.5 quarts of fuel aboard the aircraft. There was no evidence of a fuel spill. Further examination of the engine and airframe components revealed no irregularities.
