Landing Sequence
The airplane was landing on runway 10. During the touchdown, the right main landing gear contacted the runway surface first. Subsequently, the nose of the airplane shifted unexpectedly to the left.
Pilot Actions
In response to the leftward nose shift, the pilot centered the rudder and applied left aileron input. The intention was to bring the left main landing gear into contact with the ground. However, these actions did not arrest the leftward drift.
Runway Excursion
The airplane continued to drift to the left, eventually departing the left side of the runway. It came to rest in a ditch adjacent to the runway.
