What happened
The aircraft was engaged in an agricultural operation, traveling from one airstrip to another to apply fertilizer. During the en route phase of the flight, the engine began to exhibit irregularities, specifically described as missing and losing power. Recognizing the mechanical failure, the pilot initiated a forced landing procedure.
The airplane touched down in a tilled field. As the aircraft rolled along the ground, it nosed over, coming to rest in an inverted position. The incident occurred during the landing phase of the flight.
The investigation
Post-accident examination of the airframe revealed significant structural damage due to the inversion. Inspection of the engine components identified a cracked #8 cylinder. Maintenance records indicated that this specific cylinder had accumulated 337 hours of operation since its last overhaul.
