Incident Overview
During the landing rollout, the aircraft veered off the prepared runway surface to the left side and subsequently nosed over. The incident occurred after touchdown while the aircraft was decelerating on the runway.
Pilot Report
The pilot stated that during the landing rollout, the left brake locked up, rendering the aircraft uncontrollable despite the application of opposite rudder and braking inputs. The pilot indicated that the loss of directional control led to the departure from the runway.
Post-Accident Investigation
Investigators examined the accident site and observed black tire-skid marks deposited from the right main landing gear and nose landing gear, leading up to the wreckage. The marks indicated that the right side brakes may have been applied while the left side was locked.
Inspection Findings
The brakes, tires, and wheel assemblies were inspected and no anomalies were found. An operational test of the brake system was conducted and no anomalies were noted. Additionally, the aircraft and its flight control systems were examined and no anomalies were found that would have precluded normal operation. The investigation did not identify any mechanical or system failures that could explain the reported brake lockup.
