Incident Overview
A Cessna 152 was landing on runway 31 with a certified flight instructor (CFI) and a student pilot on board. The CFI had planned for a "long rollout" to allow the student to practice taxiing after landing. During the rollout, the student pressed the left brake, causing the airplane to veer off the left side of the runway.
Attempted Recovery
The CFI attempted to counteract the turn by applying right rudder and brake pressure. Despite these efforts, the CFI was unable to avoid a parked Cessna 172. The Cessna 152 then rotated to the left, and its propeller sliced through the empennage of the Cessna 172 before coming to a stop.
Post-Incident Statement
The CFI stated that there were no mechanical malfunctions with the airplane. He added that he "did not catch his student's actions in time."
